Old Railway, Bench
The tracks and ties have all been cleared way, and wooden benches have been added along the way. But slag and coal from the logging days are all along the path to the bridge.
Personal Note: I remember distinctly smelling the aroma of bee’s wax or honey comb at this location. |

1st Bridge
This is the first of many bridges on the way to the observation stand. This one takes the hiker from the old railway into the swamp. |

Path
Parts of the path are on sod. |

Boardwalk
Several boardwalks bring the hiker along moving water. |

Tiny Pinecones
From a distance they look like red berrys. Up close they look like flowers. |

Observation Deck
This is the end of the trail. Be sure to take the time to relax and listen to the wind, birds, and water. |

View
Here's one look from the deck. The whole view from the deck is too large for a simple camera. |

Snapper
Spring time brings out turtles (snappers, painted) to lay eggs. The day I was there (June 3, 2006) I saw about 6 turtles nesting. Several nests were found destroyed by a predator. |
